Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Wouldn’t you just love a gluten-free chocolate chip cookie, right now? What if I told you it was also dairy-free? What if I told you it was actually pretty healthy for you?

Oops! Did I lose you?

Well, what if I told you it tasted amazing? Not kidding. AMAZING!

What if I told you that you could also have a gluten-free, dairy-free, pretty healthy coffee cake? And it also tastes great?

Do you think I’m full of… it?

Well, let me tell you buddy, I am not. OK, sometimes I am but not when it comes to the amazing recipes created by my friend Elana from Elana’s Pantry.

I got to know Elana on twitter.

I think.

It was a while ago.

When Elana really stuck in my head was when I made the Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies. She has two versions on her site. I tried the ones with butter first, and I really like them. But, then I decided to try the dairy-free ones.

I am so glad I did. I like the dairy-free version even better. (Which is good since we are going to go dairy-free in our household. Not feeling so great with the dairy.)

I was a raving lunatic about these cookies. I mean I was raving all of the time, and I was kind of a lunatic about it. I still am. I have the recipe memorized. I have made them so many times, and it is super easy.

So, when I got to meet Elana at BlogHer Food last year, I was star-struck. I lived in Los Angeles for a decade with celebrities all around, and I am star-struck by gluten-free bloggers. Especially ones who write amazing cookbooks. And, now I get to call her friend.

The Gluten-Free Almond Flour Cookbook

That’s right, people. I am name-dropping! Elana is my friend. And since she is my friend, she gave me a copy of her cookbook to try out and see what I think of her recipes. (I think you are getting the gist that I like them.)

Oh, and she signed it. Yep! She signed it.

And, she gave me another copy to give to one of you beautiful people. And, it is also signed. That’s right! She signed the giveaway copy, too. Because she’s cool like that.

(Disclaimer: Elana gave both copies to me. I did not pay for them. The opinions in this review are my own, as they always are.)

A few days ago, I told my facebook readers that I was writing a new article about the creator of a fabulous Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookie. (I posted a picture of said fabulous chocolate chip cookie.) Well, since I feel it is not ethical to just give you a recipe from the cookbook without Elana’s permission I can’t write the recipe out here.

Elana has the recipe posted on her site, so you can just hop on over and get it yourself. I purposely chose that cookie photo to show so I could at least give you the recipe that way.

Yeah. I’m cool like that.

(And, if you hadn’t caught on yet that I have been linking to it all over the place, here it is: Elana’s Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe.)

So, about this cookbook. While you can get some great recipes on Elana’s site, including the Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free Chocolate Chip Cookie from Heaven, there are many, many more great almond flour recipes in the cookbook. It is filled with recipe for breakfasts, entrees, breads, crackers, cakes, etc.

Personally, I loved the crackers and the coffee cake. And the Scones, but we scarfed those up before I even thought of bringing out the camera. Oops!

So, here’s the deal. It’s easy. I am giving away a copy of this fantastic book to one you beautiful readers. Just leave a comment below telling me which one of Elana’s recipes on her site, Elana’s Pantry, that you would like to try for yourself.

The cinnamon pecan brittle sounds wonderful. Elana is so inspiring & I’d love a chance to win her cookbook & the almond flour! Thanks…

  2. Jeri Bookout

I love this blog, I’ve been on your facebook page for quite awhile and I check it everyday. Right now I have numerous recipes bookmarked, and I’ve started a folder in my Word program for the recipes that I can’t bookmark. My job has me working 12-16 hour days, 6 days/week right now, so I haven’t had much time in the kitchen. But on my 1 day off, I do bake something different and then take it to work and share. All my coworkers know that I have Celiac Disease, but most of the time they think that what I baked is what they call “real” LOL.

  3. Jeri Bookout

Tia, I just sent you a friend request. I would seriously love to win Elana’s Gluten-Free Almond Cookbook. Some of the recipes I’ve been making for my friends, I’ve been substitution Almond Milk whenever it calls for regular milk. Amazing difference.

  4. Jeri Bookout

Tia, I just “liked” Elana’s Pantry on facebook. I can’t wait for my next day off to make her Chocolate Chip Cookies. I am going to try both versions and substitute with the Almond Milk, I love the additional flavor that this gives in my recipes.

  5. Jeri Bookout

I have been experimenting with pancakes, was just looking at one of Elana’s recipes on her site. The recipe is similar to one I’ve been trying with a few variations. I really like that she posted additional comments about the best way to cook the pancakes..those will be helpful to me. I coat my pan with Coconut Oil, I love the additional flavor it adds to the pancakes.

  6. Jeri Bookout

I have several friends on my facebook page who are also gluten free. I shared your posting about the give-a-way for Elana’s Gluten Free Almond Flour Cookbook, they are going to love your site and Elana’s website. Tia, you are amazing for giving away a copy of her cookbook…but even more amazing for giving away the Almond Flour on top of that. I recently left my husband of 23 years…one of the many reasons I left was because he has never supported my need to be Gluten Free. Since I left, and have gone 100% Gluten/Soy free, my health has improved drastically..and it has only been 3 months. What kills me though, is how expensive this stuff is. My grocery bill is more now than it was living with him. 🙁

    • Glugle Gluten-Free

      Hi Jeri,

Welcome! Goodness, I guess you are really interested in Elana’s cookbook. 😉 I am so sorry about your marriage, but I guess it is now time to concentrate on your health, which it sounds like you are doing. I, too, was shocked at how much better I felt when I stopped eating gluten. Didn’t realize how it affecting me.

I know it can be expensive, but I highly recommend getting to know sites/people who really espouse naturally gluten free foods/cooking. It is more economical and thay have some fabulous recipes. Some of my favorites are Shirley from glutenfreeeasily.com , Kim from cookitallergyfree.com/blog , Heidi from adventuresofaglutenfreemom.com , and Diane from thewholegang.com . They are also wonderful people who really like to communicate with their readers. That’s how I became friends with them. And, it is wonderful to have their support. The more support you can get, the better.

    • Tia,

If you don’t worry about buying processed foods, it isn’t nearly as expensive. We eat lots of easy to find Whole foods.

      Good luck!

  7. I just started with the gluten free/dairy free lifestyle and am learning so much from all of you. I just started following both you and Elana. I would love this cookbook as I know it would help my family so much! Thank you for sharing!

  8. I’d most like to try her breads, especially the Gluten-Free Bread 2.0. I’ve only used almond flour a couple of times so would like to try these recipes. Those herb crackers look wonderful.

  9. I read Elana’s blog all the time and I am waiting to try her cake pops! My friend makes them for her non-profit and I’m going to love adding a GF option to her fundraisers!

  22. I would love a copy of your book. I run a support group that meets monthly. It is nice to introduce new books to our group by “show and tell.” Then we keep them in a library of sorts. That way new people who join can see what is available and what GF folks endorse!

  23. I am so glad to have found your blog. Always ready for gluten-free inspiration. I added you to my reader feed. This is a great giveaway.

  28. I love elana’s recipes! I’m looking forward to trying her chocolate walnut torte!

  29. Today, I subscribed to Glugle GlutenFree after ready Elana’s (Pantry) nice comments. I look forward to spending more time on your site. The recipe on Elana’s blog I’d like to make next is the recipes she posted today — Orange Dark Chocolate Chip Scones.

  30. Juliette

I just admitted I “Like” Elana’s Pantry on Facebook. But reality is, I LOVE it. Especially her regular emails with scrumptious recipes.

  31. i’d like to try her new orange chocolate chip scone recipe!

  32. I’m totally drooling over the orange chocolate chips scones Elena just posted on her site today. My mom made that coffee cake for Christmas and it was amazing! Even gluten-eating members of the family were raving over it!

  33. I’m going to try the roasted broccoli. It sounds like a nice alternative to our normal steaming.

  34. I love Elana’s Pantry! I just barely found her website and have truly enjoyed experimenting with almond flour!
    I like her on Facebook!

  35. Wonderful review of a wonderful cookbook.
    All recipes work great.

  36. Oh boy. I want to make Elana’s Chocolate Cake with Coconut Flour. I started going gf over the winter break and my mom and I got really into baking with almond flour and coconut flour. Oh the goodies she could bake and send me with that book and that flour!

  38. Oh, Elans just posted a recipe for orange and chocolate chip scones on her website. Now I have to try those!

  39. I’d love to try the Double Chocolate Orange Torte…..and cake pops…..and definitely the orange dark choc chip scones…..I could keep going…..can you tell I have a sweet tooth. 🙂

  40. Can’t wait to try stuff from your website. I love cooking gluten free. It’s a challenge, but oh so rewarding!

  41. Sheila Herb

Love your blog and signed up for your updates. I would love to win Elena’s cookbook as I am new to gluten free and sure could use some direction!

  42. Sheila Herb

Love your Glugle Glute Free FB page! I only was able to like the page as there is no love option!

  43. Sheila Herb

I “friended” you on Facebook! I would love to win Elena’s cookbook.

  44. Those cookies look delicious, I miss coffee cake- haven’t had a GF version yet. My favorite recipe on elana’s pantry blog(so far) is the almond bread. So far the bread has been my favorite since going GF(& caesin free, corn free etc.) It’s even better than the bread machine mixes in my opinion(I have had very bad experiences with making my own except for her almond bread recipe).

  45. Lorraine

I have made several of Elana’s recipes and enjoy them all. My next recipe to try will be her Gluten Free Orange Chocolate Scones!

  46. I’m glad I found your website. I also luv, luv, luv elana’s chocolate chip cookies!! I would really love to have her cookbook!

  47. I liked your post. 🙂 I am similarly enamored with many of her recipes. Esp the chocolate chip scones. YUM!

  48. I follow Elana on my RSS feed and email because I don’t own a bird and so can’t tweet.
I’m going to try the new scone recipe on her page with an egg replacer, those Orange Chocolate Scones look fascinating if only because they don’t use butter or cream. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a recipe like that before. Besides who are we kidding, orange and chocolate are a combo made in heaven.
Also getting the lucky winner started with some blanched almond flour is a truly magnanimous gesture as I’m not into blanching my almonds before I blitz them to death to achieve what is probably not even a close proximity. I know, we all have our cross to bear (ear to ear grin). Anyway, it’s a wonderful giveaway even if I can only enter once.

  49. The first recipe I tried was the chocolate chip cookies – they were fabulous. I would love to make her cake from her book. I am on the list at the library but I am number 12!

  50. I would love to try out one of her cakes, the german chocolate sounds fantastic (as do her many cupcake recipes) . I’ve tried her fruit crisp recipes (I highly recommend them) using homemade almond meal, but I can’t get the almonds ground finely enough to make a flour for a cake, and I haven’t had the opportunity (or the extra money) to buy almond flour! Thanks for a great giveaway!

  51. Hi Tia,

  67. Kathy Warren

I have tried many of Elana’s recipes (isn’t it hard to decide which one to chose first?) My family LOVES the chocolate chip cookies (the one using grapeseed oil). I think the next one I am going to try will be the crackers. I thought something savory would be good! I already follow Elana on Facebook and have now “liked” your site as well. 69. I’d love to make Elanas cinnamon bun muffins, power bars, and chocolate chip scones. She has so many awesome looking recipes it’s hard to choose! I’d love to win her book and the almond flour so I could get cooking!

  129. Linda Sheridan

Tried the pizza recipe. We are vegan, so substituted applesauce for the egg. It was very tasty, but next time will try egg replacer instead as a binder. It was crumbly. Next up – trying one of the cracker recipes!

  130. I love all of Elana’s recipes, but one of my favorite has to be her orange dark chocolate scones, or maybe her flourless chocolate cupcakes…well, there are many. Anyway, I’m so glad you liked everything in the cookbook – I’ll keep looking for it in my local bookstore!

  131. I’ll be making the gluten free, dairy free chocolate chip cookies as soon as I get my hands on Elena’s cookbook. I’m gonna try substituting butterscotch bits or white chocolate bits for the chocolate chips as I have recently been told I am allergic to chocolate (among many other things). mmmmmm- yummy!

Thanks so much for the cooking help! Living in rural wyoming and being a student has made creating elaborate gf recipes tricky, so the chocolate chip cookies are heaven-sent.

  146. alisa joy
