As mentioned in my previous blog, I went to the Natural Foods Expo West a few weeks ago. It was a crazy sight to behold. So much going on everywhere. It’s one of those times where you could very easily develop option-paralysis. Anyway, the reason I reiterate this is because it could not have been easy for the people working in the booths to keep everything straight and remember every little thing they said to each person that came to their booth. I am finding out differently, as time goes on.
One of the booths I stopped at was J.R. Watkins. It was a rather large booth. If you don’t know them by name, they are a natural personal/home care products company with the old-fashioned label. They have been around since 1868, and I think they might use the same label. You can view their website at www.jrwatkins.com. Anyway, I spoke to a lovely woman named Amy. I told her about the website we were building and how we were interested if any of their products were gluten free, etc. She gave me some samples to take and try, and some business cards of who I should talk to. She said she would be getting back to me about the gluten free products, and that was it. On to the next booth.
Well, low and behold I received an email today with all of their gluten-free products. It took a couple of weeks, but I am sure she had a lot of others to get back to, as well as her regular job. So I wanted to share this list with others who are looking for gluten free personal care products. She said in the email that all of their personal care products are gluten free except the Aloe & Green Tea Shampoo and conditioner. Here is the complete list she emailed to me.
Hand & Body Lotions
Shea Butter Body Cream
Hand & Cuticle Salves
Peppermint Foot Care
Specialty Bath Items
Kits & Gifts
The only one of these products that I have tried so far and can review is the tinted lip balm. I have used the “Tickled Pick” and love it. I am not really a make-up person, but I like to have a little color on my lips sometimes. This is a very nice shade, and it didn’t cause me any problems at all. I usually feel like my lips have a severe sunburn within a matter of minutes of applying a lipstick or balm with gluten. Yick!
Also, just so you know, I am not affiliated with J.R. Watkins at all. In fact, I am not affiliated with any of the products that I will be reviewing on this blog or on our upcoming website. I just want people to have an honest opinion to help them make their choices.
I hope this gives an option to those of you that are looking for gluten-free personal care products. Personally, I am anxious to try some more of their products, now that I found a lip tint that I can use.
Until next time, here’s to… Living better, easily!™
