Hi Sara,

So I spoke with some gluten-free friends of mine, and here are their suggestions.
If your ten year old can eat pecans, here is one from Shirley - http://glutenfreeeasily.com/waiting/
My friend AndreAnna has a pumpkin coconut one - http://www.lifeasaplate.com/2011/01/14/grain-free-dairy-free-coconut-pumpkin-muffins/
My friend Alisa has a "hearty" muffin recipe - http://www.alisacooks.com/2010/05/19/gf-maple-cinnamon-muffins/
My friend Sea has two - http://www.bookofyum.com/blog/gluten-free-dairy-free-persimmon-amaranth-muffin-recipe-5619.html
& - http://www.bookofyum.com/blog/delicious-gluten-free-dairy-free-and-egg-free-apple-quinoa-muffin-recipe-4814.html
Quite a few people suggest the cookbooks Simply...Gluten-Free Desserts (http://www.amazon.com/Simply-Gluten-free-Desserts-Delicious-Favorites/dp/0312643470/ref=as_li_tf_cw?&linkCode=waf&tag=gluglufre02-20), as well as cookbooks by Cybele Pascal, Bette Hagman, Carol Fenster and Anallise Roberts.

I hope this helps.

HI,
I am extremely new to gluten free baking.....my six year old was diagnosed recently with Celiac. She loves loves loves muffins so I was excited seeing the pics of all the muffins.....however, I noticed that you use almond flour. Now, my ten year old is allergic to almonds (tree nuts in general). So is there any other gluten free flour to use to make a good muffin consistency???? Perhaps you or anyone else can help me with this.

Wow...I have heard about wholemeal muffins, banana muffins, chocolate muffins but I saw first time "gluten free" muffins. They look same like those muffins though.

Thanks for this recipe! I just made these and they're super tasty! I eat gluten free as well, and making gf muffins & quick breads from scratch is one of my favourite hobbies. I did a bit of substitution: instead of 2 cups almond flour, I used one cup almond flour, 1/2 cup tapioca flour & 1/2 cup sorghum flour. I also added about 1/4 tsp vanilla liquid stevia to sweeten it up a bit. I didn't have pumpkin spice mix, so I just used a heaping teaspoon of cinnamon and 3/4 tsp nutmeg. Also I used coconut oil instead of grapeseed. They rose beautifully, have a great texture & flavour. Will make again!
