Pacific Natural Foods Review and Giveaway

Picture of a yard sale. | glugleglutenfree.com
Not our actual sale. I would NEVER sell my elliptical. Just sayin’.

No more junk!

That is our new motto, here. We are doing our best to get the junk out of our lives. It seems to be in every form (we sold/got rid of so much stuff when we moved into this apartment.), but it is especially true in food.

You are what you eat. So, we are doing our best not to eat junk. We don’t want to be junk, you know. Now, we have the occasional treat, but even then, we are doing our best to eat healthier treats.

So, what the heck does this mean to you? That’s what you are wondering, isn’t it? Well, it means that my reviews/giveaways are going to be geared more toward things we would normally eat/use ourselves. Healthier foods. Good cookbooks. Less processed foods. If they are processed, it must have few ingredients and have them be pronounceable.

It was so ironic that as soon as I made this decision, I got a bunch of emails asking me to review processed, gluten-free foods. One of the emails I got was from Pacific Natural Foods. I did the proverbial eye-roll as I saw the email in my inbox, but I opened it up and gave it a read anyway. (Honestly, I was intrigued by the “Pacific.” Being from the Northwest, for some reason, I am always drawn to that word. Eh?!)

*Hmmmmm. Let me check out the website. Hmmmmmmm. Looks good. Lots of stuff I use anyway: broths, dairy-free milks, soups. And, lots of organic versions of them. I think maybe we have a winner here.*

So, I said that I would be happy to review their products and do a giveaway for my readers.

A few days later, I had 4 large, very, very heavy boxes on my doorstep. Holy Mother of…! It took me a half hour just to unpack them. They took up so much room that I had to put them on top of my kitchen shelves. Not on the top shelf, on top OF the shelves.

Gluten-Free Pacific Foods Products | glugleglutenfree.com

Anyway, the point is, I like the idea of Pacific Foods products. They have lots of stuff to cook with. And so far, what we have tried, we really like. We really like the Cashew Carrot Ginger Soup and Black Bean soup. And the Chocolate Hazelnut Milk? Let’s just say it is a good thing that they sent us the individual containers of that. I would have drunk an entire tetra pack if I could. Yummy!

And, they have lots of products that are gluten-free, dairy-free, kosher, etc. You can find out which ones are which on Pacific Natural Foods website.

So, here is the bonus for you. Pacific Natural Foods is giving away a bunch of products to you. They are going to send 5 readers a big ol’ box(es) of products to try. Do you want some? You know you do! You just need to leave a comment on this post as to what product you are most excited to try. Scroll to the bottom of the post for extra entries.

In the meantime, I am going to give you a recipe for a pasta sauce that I made using the chicken broth. Warning! This sauce is vegetable heavy but very, very good. Even Max went nuts for it. He preferred his over gluten-free spaghetti, while The Big Man and I had ours over quinoa. Anyone seen that Whole Foods Parking Lot video?

I LOVE Pacific Natural Foods! The Cashew Carrot Ginger soup is amazing, and I just made chicken and rice with their organic chicken broth a couple of days ago. The hemp milk and oat milk sound really interesting, and the chocolate hazelnut! I bet it tastes like Nutella in liquid form. :-)

I’m new to your website but really have enjoyed your blogs and recipes you share with us.
I use Pacifics low sodium chicken broth all the time… for soups, sauces and just to steam rice with instead of water.
The chocolate hazelnut milk sounds tasty! will have to try that.

Not having had a pizza for ages, I would like to try one or loving anything chocolate, the chocolate hazelnut milk.

  32. I would love to try most of their products as all I have ever seen/tried is the soup and broth. We don’t have much product diversity where I live. Hope i get picked!!!!!!

  33. What I love most about Pacific Foods is that many of their products are sugar-free. I can get broth, soups, and milk from them without sugar, so I would definitely love to win this!

  40. Nicole

PNF is my favorite brand for almond milk. All of their products are good and truly healthy. I have always enjoyed their broths and soups. I just bought the hazelnut milk to try, new to me – haven’t opened it yet.

I would definitely want to try the condensed cream of mushroom, since sooo many recipes call for it! And I never have it because refuse to use the MSG, awful ingredient filled cans of it that have previously been the only other option!

Thanks for doing the giveaway. If you are anything like me, those shelves full of PNF goodies will be depleted in no time. haha :)

  41. Erin Drasher

I would love to try out the hemp milk. I’ve heard it’s really nutritious! I use a lot of the broths regularly which are great!

I am a follower on twitter!

  42. I have used Pacific Organic free range chicken broth low sodium FOR YEARS. It is always in the cupboard as a staple. Is is the base of my GET BETTER QUICKLY chicken soup with garlic chunks and sage (which, by the way, always works).

  43. No need to enter me in the giveaway Tia, but I just had to say that Pacific Foods Chocolate Hazelnut Milk ROCKS! That dairy-free milk was my saving grace when I had to pull my moo-juice loving 7 year old off of dairy in February! I would recommend it to all parents in a similar boat (assuming there isn’t a tree nut allergy of course).

Glad to see you “back” my friend, I’ve missed ya!

    xo,
    Heidi

  44. Oh, wow! The Thai Sweet Potato Soup looks amazing! I love their Almond Milk, but I haven’t tried the Chocolate Hazelnut milk. I’m going to have to keep a lookout for that one too@

  45. Michelle

We’re just starting the Gluten Free diet with my younger daughter. I’ve been so afraid of trying gluten free foods on her for the fear she wont like the taste of them, and I don’t have the money to waste on foods she don’t like. I’ve heard good things about Pacific Natural Foods, and is willing to try the Chicken Broth, and/or the Cream of Mushroom soups, those two I use in many of dishes! Of course I’ll try other items too! Now. . . only if I could find them in my area.

  46. kathielea

Just looking at the offerings on the Pacific Natural Foods website made my mouth water! I would love to try the broths, the creamy soups (especially tomato) and the Chocolate Hazlenut milk.

  51. Laurel

They’ve just started carrying the Pacific Foods Hemp Milks in our local grocery store. I don’t know HOW they managed that one as I live in a VERY small community in Texas and we don’t get much, not even if I try to special order it. Anyway, my definitely not healthy food loving husband keeps coming home with their chocolate/hazelnut milk. It’s an inspired combination.

  79. Catherine N.

Condensed cream of mushroom, cashew carrot ginger, chicken and wild rice, chicken fajita, and the chipotle sweet potato all sound good! It says the chocolate hazelnut isn’t gluten-free on the website (waaaaaah) so I’ll go for the original hazelnut, which is, and pray that they make a gluten-free chocolate version eventually.

( I ‘follow’ you on Facebook).

I hope I win! (I don’t usually). Basically I would be happy with a big box of gluten-free goodies from them! I love their roasted red pepper soup and their tomato soup….and have loved most of their soups…

    • Glugle Gluten-Free

      Hi Catherine,

I usually don’t comment until after the contests are over, but… this is important. According to my chocolate hazelnut milk in the refrigerator, it is gluten free. The package says gluten-free and the ingredients do not contain anything that would have gluten. I just thought you should know, because I don’t want you missing the chocolate hazelnut milk. It is important. I will have to talk to them about that. ;)

      xo – Tia

About 5 years ago, I lived in Portland and was coordinating a holiday giving program for kids and adults with mental health challenges and developmental disabilities. A company had donated warehouse space for us to use, just down the road from Pacific Natural Foods. I called Pacific, and without hesitation, they donated yummy soup for all my volunteers. What a great holiday gift!
